Dubrovnik is an amazing & quite unique fortified coastal Old City.
The company has several apartments around the Old City so reception is not always on site. The key collection plan wasn't clear this time & the company has agreed to make it more clear that they suggest a call or text from the Old City Gate on arrival.
There are no vehicles permitted in the Old City so there would be a 7 - 10 min walk from the nearest City Gate where taxis or airport shuttle stops.
There are a lot of steps throughout the entire Old City - although there are a lot of handrails. Maybe a challenge for anyone with reduced mobility.
Dubrovnik Old City is extremely busy with large groups of package tourists & cruise ship groups & the central squares and main streets can be very noisy.
However the buildings have thick walls & most of the side streets are very narrow which gives excellent sound-proofing, so the apartment is very quiet & private, especially at night, even though it is only 2 - 3 mins from the central areas.
Nice wood floor & furniture. Cleaned daily at no extra cost. Very quiet a/c.
Kitchenette is a bit basic but adequate for simple breakfast, & for wine & snacks during the day.
Supermarkets & fresh bakers only 2 - 3 mins away.
It is well worth paying a bit extra to stay in the Old City as most of the tourists are block-booked into tourist hotels outside the Old City.
Lots of excellent restaurants. Worth taking ferry trips to the islands & Cavtata Peninsular.
More expensive than Zagreb, Zadar & Pula but it is a great place to visit. City Wall restored & is a 2 km stroll right around.
